WHAT IS CHECKMATE INVESTIGATIVE SERVICES? Checkmate Investigative Services, Inc. is a Maryland based, licensed, Private Detective Agency that offers specialized investigative expertise for individuals, attorneys, insurance companies and business leaders. Our staff is a group of highly trained, dedicated and experienced investigators representing a diversity of backgrounds and ethnic experiences.
Robert E Hoffman, our Director has a B.A. in Political Science and History and a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice. He has been a Private Detective since 1977 and has two years experience in Federal Law Enforcement. He is also an Accident Investigation Specialist. Mr. Hoffman is a member of the Maryland Investigators and Security Association (M.I.S.A.) and the American Legion.
Kathleen Robinson, our Assistant Director has her B.A. in Social Work and Mental Health. She was adjudicated in 2005 for Top Secret Clearance and is a member of M.I.S.A.

Checkmate offers investigations in the following areas:
SPECIAL INVESTIGATIONS These investigations include, but are not limited to: Interviews and Statements, Asset Searches, Background Checks, Criminal Investigations, Accident Scene Scale Diagrams and Claims Histories.
Any of the above investigative inquiries can be combined and tailored to the specific needs of the requester. These type of inquiries are typically set up after a detailed conference with the client.
SURVEILLANCE OPERATIONS Surveillance, if case appropriate, may be conducted on several different types of investigations, but is utilized primarily in cases involving Domestic Issues such as Adultery or Child Abuse/Custody, Insurance Claims and Current Activities Checks. Documentation is obtained using Video Tape, 35mm Photography and Digital Video and Photography. Our equipment has specialized long range capabilities (1,000-4,000 zoom) and Night Vision.

CRIMINAL DEFENSE This type of investigation may include but not be limited to Witness Identification, Interviews and Credibility Checks, Re-enactments, and Crime Scene and Evidence Photography.
LOCATE SERVICES Checkmate has the capability of locating missing persons, witnesses and the subject of an investigation. We can also locate individuals for Child Support cases.
EXECUTIVE PROTECTION Checkmate offers protective services using both male and or female investigators. Depending on the circumstances, investigators have the capability to be armed. We also provide protective escort services. Rates for Executive Protection Services are estimated on a per case analysis.
FORENSIC ACCOUNTING This is available for Corporations, Businesses and Organizations. Rates are determined by the specific needs of the requester.

INVESTIGATIVE RATES: Rates are $55.00 to $75.00/ per man hour with .50/per mile. Plus photo/video fees and other expenses. The estimated cost of an investigation is typically provided after meeting with the client and understanding the scope of the investigation requested. All costs of an investigation are authorized by the client prior to billing.
